While searching for a name for our company I happened to be in Bairnsdale where we were looking for a property to purchase. I decided to read up on the history of Bairnsdale and discovered that Henry Lawson had married a local Bairnsdale girl, Bertha Bredt. I then started looking at Henry Lawson poetry and came across the poem, The Sliprails and The Spur. This tile was contracted to Rail & Spur and this become Rail & Spur Pty Ltd. The artwork shown was drawn by Helen Timbury of Helen Timbury Design located in Drouin. It was based on period photos and artwork and influenced by the poem.
